The organization’s new propaganda violates the principles of medicine and misrepresents allopathic medicine. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has decided to approach the court over the allegations.
The doctors’ body’s objection revolves around a new campaign by Ramdev’s organisation. The advertisement claims that high blood pressure, thyroid, asthma and even heart problems are being claimed. Incurable diseases can be cured through yoga, Ayurveda and ‘naturopathy’. Doctors’ associations say that this advertising campaign is completely unscientific. It has no basis. Such propaganda is only sending a wrong message to the society about medical science. Therefore, the IMA is going to file a complaint against Patanjali with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).But this isn’t the first time.
Patanjali has faced controversy several times in the past. The case was filed in court. Amid the pandemic, Ramdev claimed that his company’s Ayurvedic medicine ‘Coronil’ is capable of fully protecting against the COVID-19 virus. Not only that, Ramdev also questioned the covid vaccine and its effectiveness. He claimed that several doctors have died in India after receiving two covid-19 vaccines. He then called allopathic medicine a “stupid” and “bankrupt” science. After that Doctors’ organisations have been vocal against Ramdev. The case was filed in the Supreme Court. The apex court warned Ramdev and his company in the case and said it may promote Ayurveda. But it is not right for him to criticize other medical sciences or methods.
