New Delhi:Stroke. When you hear the word, it is as if the life is frightened. Suddenly, this deadly disease strikes like a terrorist. But knowing what the blood group is, or it is possible to understand how likely you are to have a stroke. That’s what the researchers claim. The medical community is optimistic about that research. It is believed that if more research is done on this topic, a way can be found to reduce the risk of stroke and prevent it.

A paper published in the peer-reviewed medical journal Neurology sheds light on this. In that paper, researchers from the School of Medicine (UMSOM) of the University of Maryland in the US claimed that those under the age of 60 who have group ‘A’ blood have the highest risk of stroke. On the other hand, those whose blood is in the ‘O’ group have the lowest risk.
Researchers tested 48 types of genes on about 17,000 patients who had a stroke. All participants were between the ages of 18 and 59. It found that people under the age of 60 who had blood group ‘A’ were 16 per cent more likely to suffer from a stroke. On the other hand, the risk of stroke is 12 percent lower for the ‘O’ group.

But why does this risk vary? Neurologist Steven Kitner, one of the authors of the paper, said that researchers are not yet in the idea. “We still don’t know why group ‘A’ is most likely to suffer from a stroke. But perhaps the possibility of a blood clot is playing a role here. There are microcycles, proteins present in the blood like cells, all of them have a role. ”
