‘No deal with Amit Shah, sit-in will continue’: Wrestler Bajrang Punia on meeting Home Minister

New Delhi: Olympian wrestler Bajrang Punia has been protesting against wrestling federation chief and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been embroiled in a sexual harassment allegation. At the same time, regarding the meeting with Home Minister Amit Shah, he said that there has been no deal with him. The Home Minister has said that an investigation is underway.

Wrestler Bajrang Punia said that in the meeting we were told not to talk outside about the meeting. We have no setting with the Home Minister. We asked them why Brij Bhushan was not arrested.Giving an interview to a TV channel, he said that the protest movement is not over, it will continue. We are strategising to take it forward. At the same time, there are rumors that the wrestlers who met the Home Minister have made a deal and there is no point in further protest. But, the athletes are not satisfied with the government’s response, nor is the government agreeing to our demands.

The wrestlers demanded a fair investigation and prompt action against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been accused of sexual harassment by seven women wrestlers, including a minor. Amit Shah assured the wrestlers that the law is equal for all. Bajrang Punia said that he asked the Home Minister why Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has not been arrested yet and whether he is actually being saved.
