Last day of campaigning for the second phase of polling Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma attends five public meetings

Guwahati: On the last day of campaigning for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today participated in five massive and crowded rallies. The Chief Minister addressed public meetings held at Dalgaon in Darrang, Lahrighat in Morigaon, Majbat in Darrang, Bejera and Kamalpur in Kamrup today .Chief Minister first attended Vijay Sankalp rally at Dolgaon Town Ground in Darrang this morning.

Chief Minister said that Prime Minister Modi has taken various initiatives including free rice for the poor people of the country, gas under the Ujjwala scheme, free medical facilities up to Rs 5 lakh under the Ayushman Bharat scheme.

CM also said that the present state government has also taken various schemes for the poor sections of the people. But the previous Congress government did not adopt any such scheme for the poor in Assam. He also said that the Congress had said that the Arunodaya scheme would be discontinued after the elections, but the state government has now decided to extend the scheme to every family who has ration cards. Stating that many poor people in Dolgaon are still getting houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
