New Delhi: Five pilgrims have died during the Amarnath Yatra in the last 36 hours, the Jammu and Kashmir administration said. As a result, the death toll has risen to 24 since the yatra began.
According to the administration, five pilgrims, including a sadhu, have died since Thursday morning. So far, most of those who have died during the pilgrimage had suffered heart attacks, authorities said.

In the last 36 hours, four pilgrims have died in Pahalgaon. On the other hand, another pilgrim died in Baltal. Four pilgrims have been identified. They hail from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana and Gujarat. Efforts are on to ascertain the identity of the other one, an official said.
