New Delhi: Bilkis Bano’s rapists surrender Following the Supreme Court’s order, 11 prisoners surrendered in Godhra jail. By Sunday night, 11 fishermen had arrived. The Supreme Court had ordered the rapists to surrender by 12 o’clock in the night. The rapists returned to the jail around 11.30 pm on Sunday.
On Thursday, three of Bilkis’ rapists had filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking more time to surrender. The three accused Govindbhai, Ramesh Chandana and Mitesh Bhatt sought more time to surrender. The first excuse was that his parents were ill. There is no one to look after. So they want an extra 4-6 weeks. The second was his son’s wedding. It will take an extra 6 weeks to organize. The third had the excuse that it would take an additional six weeks to harvest the crop.
