New Delhi: Farmers have rejected the government’s proposal to buy crops at the minimum support price. They will launch the Delhi Chalo campaign on February 21. According to the farmers, the protest against the government will continue till all their demands are met.
On Sunday, Union Food Minister Piyush Goyal, Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda and Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai held a meeting with the protesting farmers. After the meeting, Goyal said that special proposals are being made for farmers. The Centre will procure crops like pulses, maize and cotton at the minimum support price for the next five years. However, the farmer leaders sought two days to consider the proposal. Until then, the Delhi Chalo campaign was suspended.
