Imphal: Violence erupts again in Manipur A blast rocked a university in Imphal on Friday. So far 1 death has been reported. The number of casualties is expected to rise.
According to PTI, the blast took place at DM University premises in Imphal late last night. Twenty-four-year-old Oinam Kennegie was killed. Another youth injured in the blast is being treated. His condition is critical. Meanwhile, the bomb squad reached the university premises after the incident. Preliminary investigations revealed that an IED was used to carry out the attack. No one has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
In May last year, the Manipur High Court had directed the state government to take a decision within four weeks on whether the Meteis can be included in the list of Scheduled Tribes. After the court’s verdict, the whole of Manipur became fiery.
