New Delhi: On March 31, President Draupadi Murmu conferred the Bharat Ratna, the country’s highest civilian honour, on veteran politician and former Deputy Prime Minister of India Lal Krishna Advani. President Murmu visited the residence of senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader L K Advani and presented the prestigious award to him.
L K Advani could not receive the Bharat Ratna by visiting Rashtrapati Bhavan yesterday due to physical illness. So it was decided to give him the award by going to the residence of the President. In February, Prime Minister Modi had announced that the senior BJP leader would be conferred the Bharat Ratna. Prime Minister Modi had said on social media platforms that the former Union Deputy Prime Minister’s contribution to india’s development will be remembered.
