13 Maoists killed in encounter in Bijapur

New Delhi: Major success of security forces in anti-Naxal operations. Since Tuesday morning, the joint forces have been raiding the Maoist dera by cordoning off the forests of Chhattisgarh. Till nightfall, 10 Maoists were reported killed in the gunfight. The bodies of three more Maoists were recovered on Wednesday morning. In all, the death toll stood at 13. This is the biggest crackdown against Maoists this year.


The joint forces launched a search operation in Lendra village of Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district around 6 am on Tuesday. The contingent consisted of District Reserve Guard, Special Task Force, CRPF and CoBRA Battalion. Security forces had information that Maoist leader Papa Rao had taken shelter in the Bijapur forest. The gunfight started as soon as the Maoists were found.
