Tongue cut off to please Lord Shiva, now life in danger, sensational incident in Chhattisgarh

New Delhi: A man in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district allegedly cut off his tongue due to superstition, police said on Sunday. Rajeshwar Nishad (33) bit his tongue at Thanaud village under Anjora police station area of the district, they said. Now his life is at stake. He has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition. Villagers said Rajeshwar Nishad reached the village pond at around 8 am and sat close to a stone and started muttering some mantras. He later bit his tongue with a knife. Not only this, he kept the tongue close to the stone. Anjora outpost in-charge Ram Narayan Dhruv said that when villagers came to know about the incident, they informed the government ambulance service and the police. Rajeshwar Nishad has been admitted to the hospital. Rajeshwar Nishad has carried out this incident due to superstition. He wanted to offer his tongue to Lord Shiva for wish fulfilment. Now his life is at stake.

Rajeshwar Nishad has three children, the police official said. His wife is dumb. Police are questioning the children and villagers. The police have also recovered the knife used by Nishad. The police have registered a case. Also, the case is being investigated from every angle. The police are also finding out whether he was tricked by anyone. It is believed that the accused has put his life at stake due to superstition. Recently, a similar incident was reported from Maihar in Madhya Pradesh.
