Do not drink milk tea, ICMR recommendation, new guidelines issued

New Delhi: Don’t drink milk tea. Said the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). ICMR In a new directive, the association has warned people consuming tea and coffee about excessive use of such drinks and has also given some specific suggestions. The ICMR in collaboration with the National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) has released 17 new dietary guidelines to promote healthy eating habits across the country.

These guidelines emphasize the importance of a diverse diet and staying physically active. The study has also raised concerns overuse of caffeinated beverages including milk tea. The ICMR guidelines state that ‘eating meals with tea, coffee and other caffeinated drinks or drinking tea after meals should be avoided.’ The medical agency recommends that tea or coffee should be consumed at least an hour apart before and after meals. Cautioning against excessive consumption of tea, coffee, the organization said that caffeine in tea and coffee makes the central snack of our body.
