Modi elected leader of the India Alliance, will become Prime Minister for the third time

New Delhi: Narendra Modi will be the Prime Minister again. The BJP failed to win a majority in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. The NDA is moving to form a government with the support of its allies. Narendra Modi was elected as the leader of the India Alliance at the NDA meeting in New Delhi today. As a result, he was confirmed to become Prime Minister for the third time. For the first time, the Modi-led BJP needs the support of its allies to form a government.

“Our alliance truly reflects the spirit of India,” Modi said after members of the BJP and coalition supported him as the prime ministerial candidate. “We were not defeated and have not been defeated … There was an NDA government in the past, there is now and there will be an NDA government,” he said. The BJP won 240 seats, well below the 272 mark required for a majority. The NDA coalition parties together won 293 seats in the 543-member lower house of parliament. Meanwhile, Modi’s political rival Congress led the Indian coalition to fight stronger than expected, doubling its strength from the previous election to 232 seats The India coalition was able to achieve.
