Guwahati: The Guwahati Jal Board has announced that water supply will be temporarily cut off in 28 areas of the city from November 15 to November 17 for critical maintenance work. The disruption is expected to impact thousands of residents as part of a broader project to upgrade the water supply infrastructure.The water supply suspension will affect the following localities: Amiya Nagar, Chanmari, Rajgarh, Lachit Nagar, Ulubari, Rupnagar, Bora Service, Zoo Road, Anil Nagar, Nabin Nagar, Tarun Nagar, Sri Nagar, Bhaskar Nagar, MT Road, Geetanagar, Ambikagiri Nagar, Sundarpur, Manik Nagar, Hengrabari, Swaraj Nagar, Zakir Hussain Road, Downtown, Baramtoria, Ramchahil, Latasil, Silpukhuri, Panbazar, Kharguli, and surrounding areas.The temporary suspension is necessary to facilitate the removal of pipeline loops and the integration of new areas into the city’s water supply network. This maintenance work is part of a larger project aimed at improving the overall water distribution system, with the goal of finalizing the upgrade by the end of November.The Guwahati Jal Board has urged residents in the affected areas to make alternate arrangements for water during the disruption period. Water supply is expected to resume as usual once the work is completed on November 17.The maintenance work is part of ongoing efforts to enhance the city’s water infrastructure and ensure more reliable service in the future.
