Manipur: 2 UNLF Cadre Arrested Near Myanmar Border In Churachandpur

Guwahati: A self-style lance corporal of the proscribed group United National Liberation Front (UNLF) was arrested by security forces near the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur’s Churachandpur district, said an official on Sunday.

Based on specific information, troops of the Churachandpur Battalion of Assam Rifles launched an operation on Saturday and arrested the UNLF cadre at Khaukhual village.

Taking to Twitter, the official account of Assam Rifles wrote, “ASSAM RIFLES APPREHENDS AN UNLF INSURGENTS Churachandpur Battalion of #AssamRifles on 03 Sep, in a joint operation with Manipur Police apprehended a Self Style Lance Corporal of proscribed group UNLF near Indo-Myanmar border at village Khaukhual, Churachandpur District Manipur.”

The detained cadre has been handed over to the police station for further probe.

On Friday in the same district, security forces arrested a self-style lance corporal of the proscribed group United National Liberation Front (UNLF) near the Indo-Myanmar border.

The detained cadre has been handed over to Thinghat police station for investigation.
