Former Chief Minister of Meghalaya Mukul Sangma on Wednesday demanded the release of the rehabilitation package for the surrendered cadres of Garo National Liberation Army (GNLA) and other outfits.
Participating in the brief discussion, Sangma said that he learned that many of the surrendered GNLA cadres who had agreed to accept the offer of the government, to withdraw themselves from the then terror organisation and be a part of the government’s rehabilitation package had not received the support they expected.
He said that in addition to the rehabilitation package provided under the terms of the tripartite agreement between the Centre, state government, and the Achik National Volunteer Council (ANVC) the state administration had initiated a programme.

However, to reach out to all the youths who were members of the militant organisations, including the GNLA, a separate program was started by the state administration.
Mukul Sangma stated that he would like the government to look into, review, and make sure that everything necessary to complete this entire package for the members of the various outfits is completed.
