Nagaland: 3 arrested with 9 kg opium in Kohima

Guwahati: As many as three persons have been arrested with around nine kg of opium in Kohima yesterday.

The contraband was recovered from a vehicle while Nagaland police personnel of Narcotic Cell police station was conducting surprise checking on National Highway 2 near Viswema Y Junction.

The vehicle was coming from Imphal and heading to Nagaon in Assam.

Police recovered 10 packets from the vehicle which contained nine kgs of opium.

The contraband was recovered, and the driver and two other passengers in the vehicle were detained.

A case has been filed under the NDPS Act.

The three arrested people have been detained as Ameer Khan (age 29), Iman Ali (age 49), and Ramjan Ali (age 20).
