Guwahati: At least 25 Popular Front of India (PFI) leaders or members have been arrested by Assam police, officials said on Tuesday.
The Assam Police launched a major operation against the Popular Front of India (PFI) in various districts of the state.
As per officials, raids were carried out across eight districts in the state.
The arrests have been made in Kamrup Rural (5), Goalpara (10), Karimganj (1), Darrang (1), Dhubri (3), Barpeta (2), Udalguri (1) and Baksa (2) districts, the official said.
Earlier, police detained 11 PFI leaders on September 22 and 23, bringing the total number of arrests from the organization in recent days across the state to 36.
Those 11 PFI leaders arrested are Aminul Hoque, Abdul Razzak, Robiul Hussain, Nazrul Islam Bhuyan, Rafiqul Islam, Abu Sama Ahmed, Farhad Ali, Khalilur Rahman, Mufti Rahmatullah, Bazlul Karim and Minarul Sheikh.
