Arunachal: Chief Minister Pema Khandu congratulates newly appointed CDS
Guwahati: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu extended his hearty felicitations to Lt Gen (Retd) Anil Chauhan for being appointed as the new Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) on Wednesday.
Arunachal has always remained close to the heart of Lt General Chauhan, CM said.
Taking to his Twitter, CM Khandu wrote, “Heartiest congratulations to Lt Gen Anil Chauhan Ji (Retd) for being appointed as new Chief of Defence Staff.”
Lt Gen Chauhan, whose career has lasted almost 40 years, carries with him a rich experience and has committed himself to serve both the nation and the North East, he added.
Lt Gen Chauhan, during his distinguished career also commanded a corps in the Northeast and subsequently went to become the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Command from September 2019 and held the charge until his retirement from service in May 2021.
“Arunachal has always remained close to the heart of Lt Gen Anil Chauhan Ji (Retd). Recently he was at Kibithoo to attend the inauguration of Gen Bipin Rawat Military Garrison. I wish him very best for this new responsibility,” Khandu tweeted.
Since General Bipin Rawat, India’s first CDS, was killed on December 8 in a helicopter crash close to Coonoor in Tamil Nadu, the position of CDS has remained vacant.
