Arunachal: Army Cheetah chopper crashes, 1 pilot killed
Guwahati: An Indian Army chopper crashed near Tawang in Arunachal Pradesh during a routine sortie killing a pilot and injuring another on Wednesday morning.
As per the official, the incident occurred at around 10 am.
The helicopter was on a regular sortie with two pilots on board. Both the pilots were taken to the nearest military hospital, but Lt Col Saurabh Yadav, who was critically injured, died during treatment, officials added. Meanwhile, the co-pilot is under treatment.
“The cause of the crash at this stage is not known. Details are being ascertained,” officially stated.
Taking to Twitter the official account of PRO Defence Tezpur (Assam/Arunachal Pradesh), wrote “An army aviation Cheetah helicopter flying in the forward area near Tawang has crashed on 05 October (today) at around 10:00 AM during a routine sortie. Both the pilots were evacuated to the nearest Military Hospital. No visuals of the same have been released”.
