Heroin worth Rs 15 Cr seized in Meghalaya, 2 held
Two drug peddlers have been arrested by Meghalaya police for possession of illicit drugs.
According to reports, the duo were arrested in East Khasi Hills district while police recovered heroin worth Rs 15 crore.
The heroin was recovered from a vehicle that was intercepted at Mawryngkneng village in the state along the Guwahati-Silchar highway.
A total of 150 soap cases containing 2.22 kg of “pinkish powder” were recovered from the vehicle.
The pinkish powder was confirmed as heroin after testing.
According to the police, the heroin consignment was being transported from Manipur to Shillong.
Meanwhile, a case under the NDPS Act was filed against the two arrested drug peddlers..
