Arunachal: CBI takes over investigation of alleged APPSC paper leak case

Guwahati: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case regarding the alleged leak of the question paper for the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) against a private individual and unidentified official of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) on Thursday.

The accused named have been identified as Akhilesh Yadav, a teacher at the coaching centre Jeju Institute in Itanagar, and unknown officials of APPSC.

In connection with the alleged leakage of the examination paper for the recruitment of assistant engineers (civil), the Arunachal Pradesh Police filed an FIR on September 10 against Yadav and others. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) reregistered this in accordance with the procedure.

As per CBI, the case was registered at the request of the Government of Arunachal Pradesh, and subsequent notification from the Government of India transferred the investigation of SIC (Vig.) Police Station corresponding to the Itanagar Police Station.

However, the case was filed on September 10, 2022, against a private person of a Coaching Institute at Itanagar and unknown officials of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) on a complaint related to the allegations of leakage of question paper before written examination for recruitment to the post of Assistant Engineer (Civil) conducted by APPSC on August 26 and 27, 2022, CBI stated.

A CBI team has reached Itanagar to conduct further investigation.

The complainant, a candidate, claimed that the accused, an institute teacher, had questions for the allegedly leaked examination in his hands and that he had done so with the help of unidentified APPSC officials.
