Guwahati: The next round of talks about border issues with Assam will take place within the next few weeks, said Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma on Thursday.
Due to the Durga Puja and Diwali holidays, the next round of border-related negotiations between the two states was delayed, Sangma stated.
“We will make an effort to meet with the chief ministers and regional committees in the coming weeks in order to forward the discussions,” he added.
An initial round of meetings was held at the locations by a few regional committees from Meghalaya, he said.
Last month, the Meghalaya government had constituted three regional committees. They were given 45 days to examine and report on the status of the remaining six areas of difference with Assam. However, the areas include places in West Khasi Hills District, Ri Bhoi District and West Jaintia Hills District.
