Arunachal: BJP MLA Jambey Tashi no more

Jambey Tashi, a member of the Arunachal Legislative Assembly from the Lumla Assembly constituency, passed away this morning at Guwahati Downtown hospital. 

He got elected as MLA 3 times since 2009.

Jambey Tashi’s demise was confirmed by the Arunachal Pradesh Govt the in it’s official twitter handle. 

“Deeply saddened by the sudden demise of HMLA of Lumla, Shri Jambey Tashi ji. Our state may have lost one dynamic leader, but his contributions to the state will always be cherished. Our condolences to his family and well-wishers at this darkest hour,” Govt of Arunachal tweeted.

On a Congress ticket, Jambey Tashi won the 2009 election for the 1-Lumla Assembly Constituency without any opposition. 

He won the Lumla Legislative Assembly election in 2014 by 1499 votes over Independent candidate Theg Tse Rinpoche, who was running on the Congress banner. 

In 2019 Legislative Assembly elections, he contested on a BJP ticket and defeated Jampa Thrinly Kunkhap of NPP by 1288 votes.
