New Delhi: Lung cancer has taken a violent form in India as well as all over the world. Smoking, polluted environment etc. are thought to be the main reasons for this. Among the most common cancers, lung cancer is killing more people every year compared to other cancers. According to the World Health Organization( WHO), about one in five people diagnosed with lung cancer die.
The number of lung cancer patients in the world stood at 1.8 million in 2012. The number was 2.09 million in 2018. Moreover, 1.76 million people lost their lives to lung cancer in 2018 alone. The percentage of people dying of lung cancer is 17.8 per cent compared to other cancers in the world.
