Imphal: Rahul Gandhi started the ‘Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra’ with a message of peace in Manipur at 12 noon on Sunday. Violence erupts again in the northeastern state. An Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) commando was killed in an ambush by terrorists in Manipur’s Moreh district on Wednesday, police said. Another soldier was injured.
The attack on IRB personnel took place around 4 am on Sunday. They were sleeping in a makeshift camp near the Emma Kondong Lairembi Devi temple at the time. The terrorists had camped in the hills of Chikim village to carry out the attack. The grenade attack was carried out from a distance. The explosion took place in the makeshift camp. One RRB commando was killed. Another person was injured.
