Assam: 3 IIIT-G students killed in road accident in Kamrup

In a tragic incident, three students of the Indian Institute of Information Technology, Guwahati (II IT-G), died in a road accident while they were returning from a picnic spot in Chandubi, located on the outskirts of the city.

The incident, which came to light late,occurred on Saturday night in Bholagaon, Assam’s Kamrup district.

The deceased studens are –Akshit Pao and Kshitij Singh, both from Haryana, while Manan Gyanchandani is from Bhopal.

According to institute officials, two other injured students are recovering.

“The accident occurred when their four-wheeler lost control and fell into a nearby field,” said a Palasbari police officer.

The deceased’s family members arrived in Guwahati on Sunday, and the bodies were handed over to them after an autopsy.

According to a IIIT-G official, the students left before the campus closed at 9:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The IIIT-G administration formed a one-member committee to investigate the matter.
