The strike by Manipur’s media outlets against “undue interference” by a student body in news reporting has been suspended.
From Thursday onward, journalists from various media organisations in Manipur have resumed their daily news reporting activities.
Following a meeting conducted on Wednesday, the protesting media outlets decided to end the strike.
The meeting was held among representatives of All Manipur Working Journalists Union (AMWJU), the Editors Guild Manipur and Manipur Hill Journalists.
Over alleged “undue interference” by a student body in news production, media outlets in Manipur had been staging a sit-in protest.
After a student organisation objected to the publication of a news article, Manipur’s media outlets began to protest.
