“Sangeetshree Prabhat Sharma Udogoni Award” presented to Nupur Jyoti Medhi, Barsha Rabha

Guwahati: The ‘Sangeetshree Prabhat Sharma Udogoni Award’ was presented on 17th December in the absence of folk music saint Prabhat Sharma. The award for 2022 was presented to Nupur Jyoti Medhi, a budding kholbadan, bhortal-satriya dancer of Barpeta, at the district library in Barpeta. The award was presented by Kirtikamal Bhuyan, the lyricist of a number of evergreen songs.

Musician Satya Krishna Mishra presented the award to Barsha Rabha. From an early age, Barsha Rava has been able to win accolades by performing many Rabha folk songs of the Rabha tribe. .She also passed the “Sangeet Visharad” with fame, apart from gaining popularity.
It is to be noted that in order to honor the artist during his lifetime the Cinema critic Utpal Mena took the initiative to present ‘Sangeetshree Prabhat Sharma udogoni Award. The award has been presented since 2018 by the publisher Mrinal Sharma on behalf of the publishing house Chitrachal. The award was first presented to “khol badak” Giren Kalita .
