Assembly elections in Karnataka will be held on May 10. Earlier, Rahul was scheduled to start his election campaign by addressing a rally in Kolar on April 5. However, the meeting was cancelled as the candidate for Kola constituency was not finalised. In fact, former chief minister Siddaramaiah initially wanted to contest from Kola constituency. But the Congress high command did not accept Siddha’s request. The Congress has fielded Sadananda Gowda, who came to the Congress from the JD(S). The candidate was announced a day before Rahul’s visit. In fact, the Congress wanted to garner sympathy by sending Rahul to Kolre.
In 2019, Rahul had said that all Modis are thieves. Rahul was sentenced to two years in jail for his remarks. His membership was also rejected. The BJP (BJP) started campaigning that the Congress leader had insulted Dalits by calling all Modis thieves. Rahul replied to this while standing in Kolar today. “The government repeatedly talks about insulting OBCs. But why isn’t the government doing ethnic census? Why don’t they say how many Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, OBCs are in the country and how much they are represented in the government?”
“The BJP is running a 40 per cent government here,” Gandhi said at a rally in Kolar. This corrupt government must be thrown out. The right of the opposition to speak is being taken away in the country. I was not even allowed to speak in Parliament. The membership of the MP has been rejected. The former Congress president claimed that the Congress will come to power in Karnataka. And in the first cabinet meeting, all the promises will be fulfilled.
